Argentinian Wine
Argentine winemakers have continued to improve
the quality of Argentinian wine because of a need to improve
exports. Since Argentine wines began exportation during the
1990s, their popular growth has been rapid. Now ther are many
Argentinian wineries offering free tours and tastings. Some
wineries have joined forces with the tourism and now provide
accommodations, wineries like Salentein and Tapiz. The Mendoza
Province has since become one of Argentina's top tourist destinations.
Arguable, Argentina now produce the best Malbec,
but in the 1980s, Argentina was on the verge of ceasing production
of the grape due to government vine pull schemes.
The high altitude and low humidity of the Argentinian
wine producing regions, Argentine vineyards face far less problems
of insects, fungi, moulds and other diseases affecting vineyards
in other countries and it permits the cultivation of grapes
with little use of pesticides and now organic wines can be mores
easily produced and are organic wines internationally are growing
in popularity.
