French Wine
There are over 2 million acres of vineyards in France and,
this might surprise you, France and Italy battle for position
on which country produces the most wine. it is important to
remember that France's famous wine producing regions trace their
history of wine making to begin with the Romans.
In France wine and food go hand in hand with wine making being
engraved in the French identity as much as cordon bleu cuisine.
For a very long time France have been totally dominant in wine
production but are now finding their wine making superiority
challenged by winemakers from around the globe.
The French wine industry produces wines from across the quality
range. From inexpensive table wine to expensive, exclusive wines.
this can causes regions to over produce the lower quality wines,
thus buyers prepared to pay a profitable price are thin on the
ground. The smaller vineyards suffer and struggle to make a
decent living, whilst the larger vineyards focus on more exclusive
wines where they can demand far higher prices from buyers competing
for their produce.
